Life

Last week we talked about The Greatest Commandments and how Jesus broke it down into 5 major areas in which we are to love. I like to think of it as the “5 check points to life.”

Anyway the last blog we started by talking about the heart and I shared my opinion on that. Well this week it is on to the soul. Jesus said this is another area in which we were to love him in and with. Now when I first read this a long time ago, I thought, “Lord, how in the world do I love you with all my soul?” I had always thought it was a figure of speech, because the soul isn’t something tangible it can’t be held, touched or seen.

So I drew the conclusion that it was simply “Giving your soul to God” or as most people called it “Getting Saved.” Well that’s part of it but when I went back and researched it deeper that word soul, literally means life! So Jesus is saying to love the Lord with you life.

Well that is pretty much self-explanatory isn’t it, I mean as Christians we are told to do that from jump street but how do we do it? See this is why I love the Bible and the Christian faith because unlike other religions, Christianity tells and shows us how to do something. So when Jesus said to Love the Lord with our whole soul aka life, he follows up with the command by telling us how we should do it.

All through the Bible it talks about living for God or following Christ, we do that by repentance and being meek. Allowing the Lord to change us daily, always asking him to help us be better and do better. To follow Christ is how we obey this precious command, and it’s the ONLY way.

Not by following our own ideas, or what we think is right because our perception of life is horribly off. We must love him with our ENTIRE life, God doesn’t want 50, 25 10 or 99 percent of our life but the full 100 and. So I pray that we all always seek God and allow him to lead us in every arena of life. Because if he gave us his son, salvation, blessings, healings and many other priceless gifts and all he wants in return in our life…. That is a heck of a deal… isn’t it!?

I therefore urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercies, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices that are holy and pleasing to God, for this is the reasonable way for you to worship. Romans 12:1
