The Why

Hello everyone!!!!!! I hope you all are having a wonderful mothers day. And to all the Mama’s reading, I pray that your day is well and you enjoy yourselves.

As I said last week this whole month of May I am going to share the revelations God gave me on obeying the Greatest Commandments that Jesus left us with in Mark 12:29-31 when he said, “The most important one," answered Jesus, "is this: 'Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.' The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these."

The first one I wanted to share is what the Lord meant by loving him with all our hearts. Now I have done a lot of research on this scripture because A, I love this verse and B, its important and I need to get it right.

If you were to walk the streets of Amarillo and ask random people how we love someone or something with all our hearts you would get a plethora of answers. But what does it really mean, what was Jesus saying when he said,“Love the Lord your God with all your heart”.

Well when researching this word “heart” and to find it’s meaning in this verse I found that it literally means “purpose”. So if we were to replace purpose for heart here, then it would read, “Love the Lord your God with all your PURPOSE.”

So what does that mean? Well purpose is defined as the reason for which something exists or is done, made, used, etc. an intended or desired result; end; aim; goal” So frankly put Jesus is saying to love God with all the reason, aim, goal and intention.

Meaning…Love him with the “why” when we look at our lives we must ask ourselves, “why do I serve God, why do I love him?” See I believe that it must be out of true thanksgiving. To be Thankful for all he does and did for us.

Some people serve their local church for selfish reasons, some folks just go to a big church because their biggest client attends that church, or that pretty girl goes. If that is your aim or intention of Loving the Father then it is horribly off and its not love. Or some do these things because it’s the “religious” thing to do, or your denomination tells you to. God don’t want that… he wants you! And he wants your heart.

So the purpose of our Christian life is not driven by “ I want this” “I must do that” but I personally see it as… “I get to do this and that” I see it as I get a chance to somehow repay Jesus (which I could NEVER repay him for his blood) for his precious sacrifice by loving him with my heart, loving him with the why do certain things, its not to get this or that but to prove to him that I Love him.

Just some thoughts….

I Love You ALL…
