Hey everyone thanks for reading this week. Today is part 2 of “Sin… do I have to do it?”
Ok,… last week I said that you don’t have to sin, I know big bomb shell right? To a lot of people it is but anyway if you missed it go to the web site and catch up http://warriorministry.blogspot.com/.
Anyway it took me years to realize this point, the Bible makes it very clear that once you become a Christian and are right with God sin has no more dominion over you. Now it didn’t say that you don’t have to deal with sin or that you wont ever mess up again so breath… its ok, the only time you wont have to deal with sin ever again is when you are dead and in heaven.
However that does not give us a license to sin, we must still pursue righteousness.
So the point I’m trying to make is that if you are in Christ then you are over sin. Meaning you don’t have to do it anymore. Jesus withstood the Devil himself while he was tired and hungry. Jesus never sinned, not once and that is why we praise him because contrary to what people say he IS THE SPOTLESS LAMB OF GOD.
And because he withstood sin so can we, in talking to Christians the Bible says, “For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.” Romans 6:18.
Genesis says it the best way …. It says in chapter 4 verse 7 “You will be accepted if you do what is right. But if you refuse to do what is right, then watch out! Sin is crouching at the door, eager to control you. But you must subdue it and be its master.”
So you see you do not have to sin, it doesn’t have to be your master. The scripture tells you to be its master as a matter of fact! And this applies to the believer and non-believer. First for the believer who is saved you can do this through and by the name of Jesus. And if you are not a Christian yet, right now sin is your master… and the ONLY way to filp the script on sin is to get into Christ put your faith in him, repent from your sins and follow him.
It is high time that we as Christians start walking in the power God has for us. One day after I messed up and sinned, the Lord reminded me of James 4:7, “Humble yourself before God. Resist the Devil and he WILL flee from you.” Then in my heart I heard a voice say, “You tell sin what to do and where to go! Resist it, and it will flee.”
See the word says it WILL flee, not it might or when it gets ready to, but it WILL. So I encourage you all to do what the Bible says and resist sin, become its master and walk in freedom from it.
And again the ONLY way we can do this is because our king Christ Jesus did it first and since we are in him and he is in us… we can do it to!
