A Sure Thing

What’s up everyone? I hope and pray that all is well with you…

As I said last week I am very excited to write this blog, and I am positive it will bless you because it blessed me when I came across it the other day.

You know today we hear a lot of advertisements that say things like… “We are for real” or “Such and such is a sure thing.” And nothing is wrong with that, holding a degree in advertising myself I know all about this stuff, but the a while back I was studying 1 John and ran into a scripture that trumped any type of advertisement I’ve ever heard!

In 1 John 5:13-15 the Bible says, “I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us, then we can be SURE that we have what we asked of him.”

Now I read that over and over again until it is was as real to me as the nose on my face. It hit me that I can be sure absolutely sure that when I ask God anything according to his will I have it!

Now I’m not the sharpest knife in the drawer, and it takes me longer to get things, but this is a recurring theme in the Bible about asking and receiving but I love how the writer puts this into something so simple.

Think of it this way… everyone has a job or had one before. Well you go to work everyday and you are sure that when payday comes you will have a check. You don’t have to see it or have your HR director call you and tell you it’s coming, you just are sure of it right!?

Then why are we not sure when it comes to our prayers getting answered? How in the world can we be sure about an earthly thing like a paycheck but not sure of a Heavenly thing like provision, healing or protection?

Now please don’t get me wrong! I’m not in anyway condemning you or glorifying myself… we all face the temptation to doubt God’s promises and I know it’s hard that’s why the bible calls it the “Good fight of faith”, but I just want to show you like the Lord show me that we can be SURE about anything we ask.

However 1 John 5:13-15 says we must meet two criteria before we are heard and get anything from God:

1. Believe in the name of the Son of God
2. Ask anything according to his will

When the word says believe that means for real believe. Being a no joking real talk follower of Jesus… Not this worldly “well I’ve been dunked in a tank and I go to church” view of Christianity, but a being an honest heart felt follower of Christ.

And once we do that then we can come into Gods presence confidently, and complete the second step of the process, which is asking according to his will. And the only way we find out what his will is, is by reading the word.

Once we have done that… BUCKLE UP BABY because the God said that YOU CAN BE SURE THAT YOU HAVE WHAT YOU ASKED!!!!!!!

Whew man I got myself hyped by just thinking about this. So if you are a believer in Christ, have asked according to his will and continue to stand on that scripture and keep your faith no matter what GOD PROMISED YOU THAT YOU CAN BE SURE HE HEARD YOU AND SURE YOU HAVE WHAT YOU ASKED HIM!
