Concerns

What is going on? Happy V Day everyone….

This week I wanted to talk about concerns. You know we all have them, either big ones like “how will I pay this bill” to small ones like, “what am I wearing tomorrow.”

Now I am about to tell you and absolutely embarrassing story about myself, but the Lord used this experience to push across a very important point.

I love the game of golf, completely love it. Well a couple a months ago I found myself giving probably 98% of my attention and thoughts to golf and how to swing and how to do this and that. Well this went on for a day, then a week and then a month.

Well one day in prayer I felt the Lord tell me that he didn’t have my primary care anymore. Well immediately I said Lord you’re trippin’ there is no way on earth you don’t have my care. And he answered and said o yea ?… read Luke 12:31. So I did and it says, “He will give you all these things, if you make the kingdom of heaven your primary CONCERN.” So I looked up the word concern and what it meant in this particular scripture and it means to: have INTEREST, ATTENTION, IMPORTANCE and CARE

So when I put this all together Jesus is saying that the kingdom of heaven and heavenly things should have our very 1st INTEREST, ATTENTION, IMPORTANCE and CARE. Not a stupid golf swing or anything else for that matter.

And when I say heavenly things I aint talking about naked baby angels with little white wings sitting on a fluffy cloud. I’m talking about thinking about what God has done for you, how he died for you, gave you a car and a home, kids and food. Thinking about what he has you to do with this life HE gave you, and what he wants. Taking interest on people and how you can lead them to the Lord… that’s what I mean.

I lost sight of all that once but never again!

I mean yes its cool to think about other things, I mean God doesn’t want us to be mindless robots with only one thing on our mind, because we have a life he has given us and we need fun and laughter. We have jobs, families and other responsibilities to think about. But we can’t let those things have our primary INTEREST, ATTENTION, IMPORTANCE and CARE.

So I just want to encourage all of you to take an account of your mental life and see what has your primary interest, and your number one care. And no matter what it is you’re concerned about or care about… if you make the kingdom of heaven your number one everything else will fall in line.

“Let heaven fill your thoughts. Do not think ONLY about things down here on earth.” Colossians 3:2
